Poem: The Cost of Peace (2017)

The Cost of Peace

by

Raymond Tyler

A whispered wind blows a fallen leaf.
A shattered glass is strewn across a dead street.
A hungry boy asks for a dime
A woman mourns for lost time.
A soldier’s helmet lies in a pool of blood.
A father’s prayer for his son that’s gone.
A politician smirks because the stroke of his pen guarantees reelection.
